Rome teen arrested after driving reckless at 105 mph on I-75 in Whitfield County

According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, On June 14th, 2023, at 1:07 AM, TFC2 Whitfield observed a 1994 Honda Accord traveling southbound on Interstate 75 near mile marker 331 at a high rate of speed. Trooper Whitfield reported, “[I] confirmed with my patrol vehicle Radar unit that the vehicle was traveling 105 mph in a 70 mph zone. The driver was driving with no regard for the safety of others on the roadway. [I] conducted a traffic stop.” The driver (Jose Manuel Toledo, 18, of Rome) stated that his speedometer did not function properly and was 20 mph off. Toledo was placed under arrest and transported to the Whitfield County Jail, charged with speeding, reckless driving, use of due care, and driving without a working speedometer.
