Rome man arrested for DUI at DUI checkpoint after leaving wedding reception in Floyd County

According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, On October 29th, 2022, at 11:50 PM, Corporal Flowers was at an approved DUI Sobriety Checkpoint on GA-293 and Freeman Ferry Road. Corporal Flowers reported, “[I] noticed a 2022 Kia Seltos traveling east on GA-293 approaching the Sobriety heck, slowly [I] had to wave the driver forward several times to approach my location on the roadway. As the vehicle stopped next to me and the driver rolled the window down, [I] noticed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from within the vehicle.” The driver identified as Logan Samuel Burdette, 24, of Rome, speech was slow, his eyes were bloodshot and watery, and his pupils were dilated. Burdette stated he and his girlfriend (passenger) had just left from a wedding reception. At this time, the trooper noticed the female passenger moved her right leg that was covering up a White Claw (Alcoholic Beverage) in the cup holder. Burdette stated he had maybe “two beers,” and that was all. Burdette then showed a BAC of .138 on a PBT and showed several signs of impairment during field sobriety tests. Burdette was placed under arrest for DUI and refused the state test. Burdette was transported to Floyd County Jail and charged with DUI and open container violation.
