Rome man arrested for DUI after flipping vehicle in crash on Wilshire Road

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, On June 30th, 2023, at approximately 7:47 PM, Officer Roubieu responded to 460 Wilshire Road to a reported crash with the vehicle overturned that had come to rest on the guard rail. When the officer arrived paramedic’s were where checking out the driver. Officer Roubieu then spoke to the driver, identified as Justin Dewayne Davis, 37, of Rome. Officer Roubieu reported, “[I] then asked Mr. Davis for his driver’s license to which he handed me his whole wallet. While speaking to Mr. Davis, [I] did smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the person of Mr. Davis. [I] then requested the assistance of PFC Puckett. While waiting for the tow truck, [I] was speaking to Mr. Davis, his speech was slurred, and he was stumbling/swaying while speaking to me. Mr. Davis continued swaying and almost fell forward while PFC Puckett was conducting his sobriety evaluations.” Davis was placed under arrest for DUI and refused the state test. Davis was then transported to the Floyd County Jail and charged with failure to maintain lane and DUI less safe.
