Rome man arrested for DUI after crashing into ditch in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, On November 30th, 2022, at 1:22 AM, PFC Tetsworth was patrolling the area of Robinson Avenue at Burnett Ferry Road when he observed a dark in colored vehicle in the ditch in front of 4 Robinson Avenue. Officer Tetsworth reported, “[I] saw two men walking around the vehicle, approached them, and asked them what happened. The driver, Montez Xavier Martin, 33, Rome, stated that he was turning around the corner at Burnett Ferry Road, turning onto Robinson Ave, when he lost control, left the road, and ended up in the ditch in front of 4 Robinson Ave. [I] asked Mr. Martin if he wanted a wrecker to come and get his vehicle. Mr. Martin was unsure who to call, but then Sunrise Wrecker Service showed up on the scene advising they were called. While speaking with Mr. Martin, [I] detected the odor of alcohol on his breath. [I] also observed Mr. Martin had trouble maintaining his balance and slurred his speech.” Martin advised he did drink the night prior. Martin blew into an alco-sensor, and it indicated the presence of alcohol. Martin refused field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DUI. Martin was read Georgia Implied Consent, which he also refused. Martin was transported to the Floyd County Jail and booked.
