Rome man arrested after assaulting wife and daughter during violent alcohol-fueled domestic

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, On June 11th, 2023, at 12:32 AM, Officer Dutton was dispatched to an address on Watts Way in reference to a domestic violence call. The victim advised that her dad Carlos Albert Hernandez-Tello, 40, of Rome, was drunk and very aggressive. She then advised the officer that he choked her and assaulted her mom. The mom advised the officer in broken English that Carlos had hit her in the throat. Just before the officer could turn to speak with Carlos, his son came inside the house to confront him. Officer Dutton reported, “[I] had to pull him away with the help of others and tell him to go outside. During all of this, [I] was the only officer on scene and felt that my safety could be in jeopardy, so [I] asked my backup unit to respond to Code 1, which is known as an emergency response. As [I] began to speak with Carlos, he seemed to be intoxicated and was very belligerent. [I] asked Carlos if he had struck his daughter or wife, and he denied it. He then began to ramble on about his wife and daughter not knowing responsibility.” Carlos refused verbal commands and was tasered. After being tased, Carlos complied and was taken into custody. Carlos was transported to the Floyd County Jail, where he fought with the jail staff. Carlos was charged with aggravated assault, battery, obstruction of law enforcement, and cruelty to children x2.
