Rockmart man arrested for DUI after 911 call regarding suspicious vehicle in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, on January 28th, 2023, at 1:25 PM, Officer Roubieu and Officer Stanfield responded to the area of Old Wax Road and Burmbelow Road in reference to a suspicious vehicle. The caller advised dispatch that it was an older gentleman, and his speech seemed to be slurred while they were talking to him. Officers located the vehicle in front of 441 Old Wax Road. Officer Stanfield reported, “Officer Roubieu and [I] approached the male, later identified as Frankie Carl Nicholson, 60 of Rockmart, and Officer Roubieu began to speak with him. Officer Roubieu asked if he got stuck, and Nicholson replied, “No, I pulled it into the driveway, and they pushed it out to get out.” As Nicholson was speaking, [I] did hear his voice to be very slurred and for him to speak in a lethargic manner. [I] did approach Nicholson, who was leaning on the back of the tailgate to his truck, and observed an open “Bud Ice” in the bed of the truck.” While Nicholson was trying to get his license out of his wallet, Officer Stanfield did ask him how much he had to drink. Nicholson replied with “a couple.” Officer Stanfield asked Nicholson how much a couple was, and he replied with “five or six”.” During field sobriety testing, Nicholson showed several signs of impairment. Nicholson was placed under arrest for DUI, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Nicholson was transported to the Floyd County Jail and charged with DUI.
