Ringgold motorcyclist arrested after high-speed chase in Catoosa County

According to a Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On November 29th, 2022, at 1:14 PM, Deputy Suits, along with his FTO Deputy Smith, was traveling eastbound on Battlefield Parkway. Deputy Suits observed a 2020 Yamaha motorcycle, later identified to be driven by Joel King lewis, 19, traveling westbound at an incredibly high rate of speed on Battlefield Parkway. According to the report, “Deputy Suits did a U-turn to stop the motorcycle and also observed the motorcycle did not have any vehicle registration displayed. At the intersection of Old Mill Road, Lewis accelerated at a rapid rate of speed, pulling away from Deputy Suits’ patrol vehicle. Deputy Smith advised Catoosa County Dispatch that units were in pursuit and requested Georgia State Patrol.” Lewis turned right southbound onto Three Notch Road, where he passed a truck on the wrong side of the road while also failing to yield at the stop sign at Three Notch Road and Boynton Drive. Deputies pursued Lewis at speeds over 80 mph, with him pulling away from them. Around the Poplar Springs Road intersection, other units joined the pursuit. Lewis turned eastbound on Davis Ridge Road, and after a short while, the visual was lost. Corporal Landen located the motorcyclist northbound on Highway 151. According to the report, “Corporal Landen activated his lights and sirens and pursued the motorcycle. Corporal Landen observed the motorcycle turn left onto Hackett Mill Road and continued to pursue the motorcycle. Once Corporal Landen got to the intersection of Hackett Mill Road and Industrial Boulevard, he radioed to other officers in the area that the motorcycle should be coming back up on Alabama Highway. At that time, a Ringgold Police Department was able to get the motorcycle stopped and had lewis at gunpoint. Lewis was then taken into custody and booked into the Catoosa County Jail, charged with felony fleeing, too fast for conditions, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, display of license plate, and stop sign violation.
