Nashville teen found with stolen gun and marijuana after speeding on I-75 in Whitfield County

According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, On July 4th, 2023, at 4:15 PM, Cadet Oshields was conducting speed enforcement on I-75 South in Whitfield County when he observed a silver 2014 Nissan Altima traveling at a high rate of speed at 88 mph. Cadet Oshields conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Evan Isaiah Walker, 19, of Nashville, TN. Cadet Oshields reported, “As [I] was speaking with Mr. Walker, [I] smelled the distinct odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle Mr. Walker was driving. [I] requested assistance from TFC2 J. Day to perform a probable cause search of the vehicle. TFC2 Day and [I] explained to Mr. Walker and his passenger, Ms. Armani Bumphus, 19, of Nashville, TN, that we were conducting a probable cause search multiple times before they both complied with exiting the vehicle.” Trooper’s located a black Nike duffle bag with a large amount of marijuana and a black Glock Model 27 .40 caliber handgun underneath the driver’s seat. Through GCIC, it showed that the firearm was reported stolen through the Nashville Police Department in Tennessee. Walker was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, charged with felony possession of a stolen firearm, speeding, and possession of marijuana.
