Nashville man arrested after driving reckless at speeds over 100 mph on I-75 in Catoosa County

According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, On November 24th, 2022, at 4:54 PM, Trooper Judd Whitfield observed a 2021 Toyota Rav 4 traveling south on Interstate 75 near mile marker 348 at a high rate of speed. Trooper Whitfield reported, “The vehicle was swerving in and out of traffic in a reckless manner with no due regard for others on the roadway. The vehicle was also following too closely and not signaling when changing lanes. The vehicle also nearly ran other vehicles off the roadway. [I] confirmed with my state-issued LIDAR unit the vehicle was traveling at 104 mph in a 70 mph zone.” Trooper Whitfield conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Efiok A Obot, 41, of Nashville, TN. There was a 2-year-old child in the backseat as well. Obot stated that they were just late to a Thanksgiving get-together. Obot was transported to the Catoosa County Jail and charged with speeding, reckless driving, cue care, failure to signal when changing lanes, and following too closely.
