Louisiana teen arrested after driving reckless at speeds over 100 mph on I-75 in Whitfield County

According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, On February 23rd, 2023, at 6:48 PM, while sitting stationary on I-75 northbound near mile marker 327, Trooper Shackleford observed a blue 2007 Acura sedan traveling north on 1-75 at an extremely high rate of speed in the left lane through dense traffic. The Laser displayed a speed of 101 miles per hour in the posted speed limit of 70 miles per hour. Trooper Shackleford initiated a traffic stop and had the driver identified as Victor Logan Redfern, 19, of Slidell, Louisiana, step outside the vehicle. Trooper Shackleford reported, “[I] asked Mr. Redfern why he was driving at such a high rate of speed. He advised he and his friends were just trying to get to a hiking area in Tennessee. Mr. Redfern later advised that he knew it was a matter of time before he was caught and that his laser detector had alerted him, but he thought he would be okay. Due to Mr. Redfern’s complete lack of regard for not only his safety but his passenger’s safety and the safety of other motorists on the roadway, Mr. Redfern was placed under arrest for reckless driving.” Redfern was transported to Whitfield County Jail and charged with speeding and reckless driving.
