This call came in via third-party phone call, and the caller was not sure of the exact address, just the general area of the disturbance. Deputy Riggs arrived in the area and located Jerrel Christopher Adams, 34, of LaFayette, inside the carport at the residence. Deputy Riggs reported, “Mr. Adams appeared to be under the influence and was visibly agitated by me being there. [I] noticed that he had blood on his clothing as well as his face and leg. Mr. Adams told me [I] had the wrong address. [I] asked Mr. Adams if anyone else was inside the house, and he stated he was alone. [I] then asked what happened to cause him to be bleeding, and he stated he was not bleeding and that the only thing that had happened was he had chased his dog down.” Deputies then located the female victim and two juveniles. The female victim was visibly upset and had visible marks on her arm and a badly busted lip. She stated Adams came to her and told her he wanted to have an open relationship, which was not something she wanted. She stated he then became upset, and then things became extremely physical. Adams threw her on the ground and slammed her head on the ground. She stated then her children came outside to help her escape the beating, and Adams then slammed her eight-year-old son on the ground by his throat. She stated that she did hit Adams in self-defense during the violent assault. Deputies also observed she had multiple visible scratches and marks all along her back. While speaking with Deputy Henry, Adams attempted to enter the residence, refusing verbal commands from the deputy.
