Dalton woman attempts to stab husband with scissors during alcohol-fueled domestic in Whitfield County

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On March 18th, 2023, at 10:21 PM, Deputy Broling and Sgt. Southern responded to an address on McNeese Way, Dalton, GA, in reference to a domestic dispute in progress. According to the report, The wife was being physical with the husband, and they both had been consuming a lot of alcohol. The victim said that she and his wife had been arguing all day. Debralea Rena Sexton, 44, of Dalton, stated the argument was about “race”. According to the report, “Ms. Sexton also stated she had started consuming alcohol about two hours prior. Deputy Broling saw a metal trash can next to the bed Ms. Sexton was on, and it was full of multiple 12oz Budweiser bottles. Deputy Broling then asked Ms. Sexton if, at any time during the argument, it became physical. Ms. Sexton stated that while she and Mr. Sexton was arguing, she kicked him in the side, and Mr. Sexton fell off the bed. Deputy Broling then asked Ms. Sexton why she kicked Mr. Sexton, and she stated, “He said he was prejudiced. How am I not supposed to kick him?””The victim advised that while they were auguring, she grabbed metal textile scissors, raised them above, her head and stated to him “I’m going to stab you.” At this point, the victim was in fear for his life and moved his arms and legs into a defensive position. When he did that is when she kicked him, causing him to fall off the bed. Ms. Sexton was booked into the Whitfield County Jail and charged with aggravated assault (FV), simple battery (FV), and terroristic threats and acts (FV).
