Dalton man arrested for DUI after leaving bar and driving on the wrong side of the roadway

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On September 17th, 2023, at 2:52 AM, Officer Friare was patrolling the area of Morris Street and Fredrick Street and observed a vehicle to begin traveling on the wrong side of the roadway driving as it traveled west. The officer then conducted a U-turn and initiated a traffic stop at South Easterling Street and Abigail Street. Officer Friare made contact with Gaspar Francisco Jose, 27, of Dalton, and immediately detected the smell of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath. Gasper advised he had been at a bar named Veneno (600 MLK Jr Blvd). Gaspar informed the officer that he had only drunk two beers. Officer Warren then observed open Vodka and Moonshine containers in the vehicle. During field sobriety tests, Gaspar showed several signs of impairment and was placed under arrest for DUI. Gasper was booked into the Whitfield County Jail, where he showed a BrAC of .019. Gaspar was charged with DUI drugs less safe, open container violation, and driving on the wrong side of the roadway.
