Dalton man arrested for DUI after causing head-on crash in Dalton

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On December 21st, 2022, Officer Jenkins responded to the area of Chattanooga Road and North Bypass in reference to a vehicle crash that had occurred. Officers learned that a vehicle driven by Rogelio Nolasco-Ramirez, 36, of Dalton, was on the opposite side of the roadway and struck another vehicle head-on. Officer Jenkins reported, “While investigating the crash, [I] could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Ramirez’s breath. He was also slurring his speech and seemed to be off balance. Also, inside his vehicle, there were multiple beer bottle caps in the car. [I] then got a Whitfield County deputy that was on the scene to do HGN, but Ramirez refused to follow his directions and would not do the task. During field sobriety tests, Ramirez showed several signs of impairment and showed a BAC of .167. Ramirez was placed under arrest for DUI and refused to answer the state test. Ramirez was then transported to the Whitfield County Jail and charged with DUI and driving the wrong way.
