Dalton man arrested for DUI after call of reckless driver in Dalton

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On December 17th, 2022, at 12:20 PM, Officer Sosa responded to a vehicle driving recklessly. Officer Sosa arrived and noticed a white Jeep that matched the description provided by dispatch. The driver, Christopher Lee Nix, 35, of Dalton, was arguing with his neighbor. Officer Sosa reported, “When [I] got behind the vehicle to speak with the driver, he drove away, parked his vehicle, and attempted to quickly go inside his home without speaking to me. [I] told Christopher to stop and informed him [I] needed to speak with him, and he ignored all commands to stop and continued to unlock his front door. After the third time of being told to stop, he turned around and stated how could [I] help you. [I] informed him [I] was Officer Sosa with Dalton Police Department, and he was detained for reckless driving. [I] then noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from Christopher’s breath. [I] asked Christopher if he was or had been drinking, and he stated that he only had a few drinks.” He stated he had 3 or 4 shots of Jack Daniels. Christopher then refused standardized field sobriety tests, demanding to know why he was stopped. Officer Sosa reported, “At this time, [I] placed Christopher under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Christopher then stated for the third time, he had 2 or 3 shots of Jack Daniels, and he wanted to know why he was arrested. [I] then explained why he was under arrest. [I] told him I believed he was under the influence because [I] noticed his glassy eyes, a strong odor of alcohol, and slurred speech. He also admitted to drinking and driving multiple times. Once Christopher was in handcuffs, he changed his mind and stated he would like to do a standardized field sobriety test. [I] told him it was too late; he was under arrest.” Christopher was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, where he showed a BAC of .163. Christopher was charged with DUI.
