Dalton man arrested for DUI after being stopped for speeding in Whitfield County

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On December 19th, 2023, at 2:09 AM, Deputy Vazquez observed a maroon 2003 Mazda MX-5 traveling at a high rate of speed on Old Field Rd. Deputy Vazquez conducted a traffic stop at Old Fields at Boone Way and spoke to the driver Christian Rendon, 25, of Dalton, and front seat passenger Jose Rendon. After speaking to Rendon, Deputy Vazquez believed that he was under the influence. Deputy Vazquez requested Deputy Sharpe to assist. Deputy Sharpe noticed that Rendon’s eyes were glossed over and could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. Rendon stated that he had one modelo before driving.  Rendon showed several signs of impairment during tests and showed a positive amount of alcohol on his breath during a PBT test. Rendon refused to answer to implied consent. Rendon was transported to the Whitfield County Jail and charged with DUI and too fast for conditions. Deputy Sharpe also filled out administrative license suspension and implied consent DDS 1205 (Rev. 05/17). Mr. Rendon refused to sign the form.
