Dalton man arrested after being stopped driving stolen vehicle from Ohio

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On July 1st, 2023, at 1:45 PM, Officer Hughes was advised by Onstar of a stolen vehicle traveling south on Cleveland Highway approaching the City of Dalton. Officers Sosa located the vehicle, and both officers and deputies initiated a felony traffic stop with the vehicle on North Bypass. Officer Thornton, Officer Hughes, and Officer Bethune took both occupants into custody. The driver was identified as Jeff O’Connell Wesley, 50, of Dalton. Officers made contact with the business that had the vehicle stolen, First Choice Security. The business advised the vehicle had been stolen from a parking lot the business provides security for. The victim advised the vehicle was taken from Cincinnati, Ohio. Wesley was charged with theft by bringing stolen property into the state and booked into the Whitfield County Jail.
