According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, “Aaron Keith Utley, 35, of Resaca, is a registered sex offender in the state of Georgia. Mr. Utley was convicted of felony Statutory Rape in Murray County, GA, in 2006 and, based on this conviction, is required to register as a sex offender under O.C.G.A. 42-1-12. Mr. Utley’s most recently registered address is 719 Betty St, Dalton, GA 30721. This address was reported in January 2021. Under O.C.G.A. 42-1-12(f)(4) : Any sexual offender required to register under this Code section shall renew the required information with the sheriff of the county in which the sexual offender resides or sleeps by reporting in person to the sheriff within 72 hours prior to such offender’s birthday each year to be photographed and fingerprinted. Mr. Utley’s birthday was on a Sunday (08-21-2022), and Mr. Utley did not report within 72 hours prior to his birthday, nor did he report the following Monday (08-22-2022). At this time, Mr. Utley is in violation of Georgia law. ” An arrest warrant was sought through the Whitfield County Magistrate Court. On November 30th, 2022, Utley was booked into the Whitfield Jail, charged with failure to register as a sex offender.
