Dalton woman arrested for DUI after crashing into parked vehicle on the side of the road

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On March 21st, 2023, at 9:58 PM, Officer Ellenburg was dispatched to the area of Lewell Road and Suitcase Simpson Drive in reference to a two-vehicle crash where a vehicle had struck another vehicle that was parked on the side of the road. Officer Shope arrived on the scene just before Officer Ellenburg had. Officer Shope spoke with the driver of the 2011 Infiniti G25, Stephanie Castillo, 24, of Dalton. She stated that she was fine but that the passenger Tyanne Hill, had been drinking, and when they wrecked her, the drink spilled on her, and that’s why she smelled like alcohol. She then stated that they had just left a restaurant where Stephanie stated she had one beer and she was on her way to drop Tyanne off at her house. Officer Ellenburg reported, “While conversing with Stephanie, [I] observed her to have red glassy eyes, slurred speech, and [I] could smell an odor of alcohol coming from her mouth.” During field sobriety tests, Stephanie showed several signs of impairment and agreed to the state test. Stephanie was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, where she showed a BrAC of .145. Stephanie was charged with DUI .08 grams or more.
