According to a Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On February 19th, 2023, at 12:45 AM, Deputy Weaver was sitting stationary at the I-75 northbound weigh station. Deputy Weaver observed a vehicle in the far left lane, traveling substantially faster than the vehicles in the other lanes. Deputy Weaver checked the 2012 Chevy Cruze using LIDAR at 113mph in a 70mph zone. As the vehicle approached Deputy Weaver, he observed the vehicle go from the far left lane to the far right lane to pass numerous vehicles, and failed to use their turn signals. As soon as the vehicle passed Deputy Weaver he initiated a traffic stop. According to the report, “As Deputy Weaver was attempting to catch up to the offenders vehicle, he observed the vehicle, weave in and out traffic without using their turn signals. The vehicle passed two tractor trailers traveling in the middle lane, using the far right lane. The offenders vehicle then left the roadway onto the right shoulder, swerved back into the right lane, and then cut two more vehicles off in the middle lane to maneuver to the far left lane. The vehicle maintained speeds of well over 100+mph while maneuvering through heavy traffic.” Deputy Weaver finally caught the vehicle at mile marker 347. As soon as the driver later identified as Kelsi M Moore, 19, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, recognized that Deputy Weaver was attempting to pull her over, she slammed on the breaks, and immediately stopped in the left lane of travel. According to the report, “Deputy Weaver made a driver side approach and stated “Good morning, I’m Deputy Weaver with the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office, do you know why I pulled you over”? Moore stated “I was speeding, but I’ve really got to pee bad and wanna get home”. Deputy Weaver informed the her he checked her at 113mph in a 70mph zone. She looked down at her speedometer and stated “Yes I was speeding, but I just needed to go pee cut me a damn break”.” Deputy Weaver placed Moore under arrest and immediately started to cry and scream throwing a tantrum stating that she made a mistake and asked Deputy Weaver to cut her a break. Deputy Weaver informed Moore she was traveling at 113mph in a 70mph, was driving recklessly weaving in and out of traffic, and failed to use her turn signals, and that there were no breaks being cut tonight. Moore was booked into the Catoosa County Jail, charged with speeding and reckless driving.
