According to Rome Police: Officers were dispatched to a ‘shots fired’ call outside a house located on Shadow Brook Drive in Rome at around 10:52 p.m. A domestic altercation between a man and a woman had developed to include other members of the household and it resulted in the victim sustaining a single gunshot wound to the chest. The 51-year-old Woodstock woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner’s office and her body will be taken to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy. Ellis Geoffery Marrs, 21, of Rome has been arrested and charged with murder. Other charges are possibly pending as the shooting remains under investigation.
