Unlicensed drunk driver arrested after driving all over the roadway in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, On March 10th, 2023, at 9:18 PM, Officer Surrett was patrolling the area of Maple Road near Miller Street when he observed a vehicle driving all over the roadway, nearly causing a head-on crash. Officer Surrett conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, later identified as Anna Escobar Perez, 38, of Collinsville, Alabama. When the officer asked Anna for her driver’s license, she advised she did not understand English. Officer Surrett reported, “Upon Anna stating to me she did not understand English, [I] detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. [I] then asked Anna if she had an ID, and she advised no. Upon Anna getting out of her vehicle, [I] noticed she was unable to keep her balance.” Officer Quijada arrived and assisted with translation and speaking with Anna. While Officer Quijada spoke with Anna, and she stated that she only had drunk two Micheladas prior two driving. During roadside evaluations, Anna showed several signs of impairment. The tests were stopped early for her safety after she almost fell over. Anna refused the state test and was transported to Floyd County Jail, charged with DUI, failing to maintain lane, and driving while unlicensed.
