Unlicensed driver arrested for DUI after 911 from concerned citizen in Dalton

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On February 11th, 2023, at 9:24 PM, Officer Wingate and Thornton responded to 885 Shugart Road at the Murphy USA gas station in reference to a check welfare call. The caller stated that there was a grey Honda Accord driving circles around the gas station and almost hit the sidewalk several times. The caller advised that the Honda was currently parked near pump 1. Officers arrived on the scene and made contact with the driver, later identified as Antelmo Samuel Ramirez Puac, 32, of Chattanooga. Officer Thornton reported, “Antelmo stated that he did not speak much English so [I] asked for an officer to be en route for translation. While waiting for Officer Herrera to arrive, [I] asked Antelmo what he was doing at the gas station. He advised that he was getting gas. [I] asked him if he knew where he was, and he hesitated before saying Chattanooga. [I] advised him he was not in Chattanooga but instead was in Dalton, GA. Antelmo told officers that he had six beers before driving. Antelmo stated that he was good and that he would stay here until the morning when he would drive back home. Officers then spoke with the caller, who advised Antelmo was all over the roadway on Shugart Road. Antelmo refused to take standardized field sobriety tests. He showed positive for alcohol on a PBT. Antelmo was placed under arrest for DUI and was transported to the Whitfield County Jail. Antelmo consented to the state test and registered a 0.243 BrAC. Antelmo was charged with driving while unlicensed and DUI alcohol, 0.08 gm or more.
