Two 17-year-olds arrested after another teenager was shot in Ringgold

According to a Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On Saturday, January 7th, 2023, at 5:25 AM, Deputy Kuzma was dispatched to Amy Lane in Ringgold in reference to a teenager that had been shot. According to the report, “Deputy Kuzma was first on scene and saw the victim lying on the ground in the front yard, and his friends [listed witnesses] were next to him. Deputy Kuzma went to the victim and saw that he had a serious bullet hole on his stomach and on his back that was through and through.” Deputy Kuzma rendered life-saving first aid on the victim and his wound while waiting for EMS to arrive. Deputy Brodgon was the second unit to arrive on the scene and assist. Witnesses stated to identify the suspect as being Landon Taylor Johnson, 17, of Cohutta. Deputies Brogdon and Kuzma set up crime scene tape. Lt. Wooten arrived on the scene and assisted with the scene. No one at the scene knew anything about the firearm or where the firearm was at. Detectives arrived on the scene, and the scene was turned over to them. On January 17th, 2023, Landon was taken into custody at Ridgeview Young Adult Center. Landon was then transported to Catoosa County Jail, charged with aggravated assault and possession of a gun during the commission of a felony. According to the report, on January 27th, 2023, Deputy LaMountain took Trenton Lorenzo Shelton, 17, of Dalton into custody at Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office for three active felony warrants. Shelton was arrested by the Dalton PD on January 26th. Shelton was then transported to Catoosa County Jail, charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a handgun by someone under 18, and criminal use of an article with altered identification mark.
