Summerville man arrested for DUI after call of suspicious vehicle at Food Lion in Armuchee

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, March 2nd, 2023, at 1:32 PM, Captain Hunton, along with Officer Bleecker, responded to a call of a suspicious person who had parked his vehicle behind the complainant and blocked them into a spot at the parking lot of Food Lion in Armuchee. Officers arrived and found the driver of the vehicle Vincent Ray Hix, 20, of Summerville, in control of the vehicle parked in the middle of the parking aisle behind a vehicle. Captain Hunton and Officer Bleecker requested Officer Forrister due to suspecting Hix being DUI. Officer Forrister reported, “[I] did approach the driver of this vehicle Vincent Hix and began to speak with him. [I] did notice that Hix had constricted pupils, and due to the fact that this was a cloudy and rainy day, [I] did ask Hix about why his eyes were constricted and if he had taken any stimulants or any other substances and he advised me that he had taking amphetamine salts that he is prescribed to take three times a day and had last took them at noon. At this time, [I] did go ahead and ask Hix to perform standardized field sobriety exams.” During standardized field sobriety exams, Hix showed several signs of drug impairment and a BAC of .025. Hix’s vehicle was searched during this incident, and several medication bottles were located. There was also an open bottle of fireball. Hix was transported to the Floyd County Jail, and charged with DUI.
