Rossville Police officers and department award 1st place in Georgia for amount of DUI arrests in 2022

On Wed, May 3rd, at 9:00 AM at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park, The 19th Annual Golden Shield Honors were held to recognize law enforcement offices and agencies, DUI prosecutors, and community advocates who make a difference. For the past 19 years, the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety has joined with MADD Georgia to celebrate our partners in their efforts to keep our highways and roads safe. These heroes work hand-in-hand with us to fulfill our mission to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime, and prevent underage drinking. Rossville Police Department 3rd shift Sergeant Billy Shawn Carter received an award for 100+ DUI arrests last year. He placed 1st in the entire state of Georgia for his number of DUI arrests for the department size of Rossville. 3rd shift Officer Preston Thomason, who works on the same shift as Sgt. Carter had an impressive 50+ DUI arrests last year. Together they had 154 of the 178 department arrests for DUIs last year! With their hard work and the hard work of their fellow Rossville officers, the police department was first place in their division for DUI arrests in the entire state of Georgia.
