Rome man wanted on Alabama arrested after putting elderly man in fear for his safety in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, On March 3rd, 2023, at 12:26 PM, SGT. Clayton, OFC. Bleeker, and PFC. Masciovecchio was dispatched to an address on Whippoorwill Lane in reference to a male, John Jackson Lynn, 40, of Rome, that was acting erratic, threatening the complainant, and also threatening to commit suicide by the end of the day. Officers were also advised by dispatch that John had an active felony warrant out of Alabama. According to the report, SGT. Clayton arrived on the scene and spoke to the caller 74-year-old male who stated that he was afraid of John and that he had been threatening and making him fear for his safety. the victim stated that John had been yelling at him, approaching him aggressively and getting in his face. The victim stated that John was scaring him to the point that he felt he needed to leave the location. The victim told SGT. Clayton said that John was inside, in his room, and he had locked him out of the house. Officers went inside and placed John under arrest. SGT. Clayton and EMS also spoke to John about threatening suicide, and he stated that he was not suicidal and had not threatened to hurt himself. John was then transported to the Floyd County Jail, where he was booked and charged with felony exploitation and intimidation of the elderly or disabled.
