Woman seriously injured and airlifted following Tuesday morning crash on Highway 27 in Walker County
Highway 27 in Rock Spring was shutdown for an extended period of time Tuesday morning while LifeForce landed to transport a female involved in a serious two-vehicle crash. The crash happened shortly before 6:30 A.M. just north of the intersection of Highway 27 and Chastain Drive in Rock Spring. According to preliminary reports from the trooper on scene A 2013 Nissan Versa for reasons unknown at this time was traveling southbound on Highway 27 (GA-1) in the Northbound left lane. A 2008 Ford F350 Super Duty traveling northbound in the left lane when a vehicle traveling in front of F350 suddenly swerved to miss the oncoming Versa. The driver of the F350 slammed on the brakes and swerved as well in an attempt to ovoid slamming into the Versa head-on. The truck began to turn causing the left rear of the truck to slam into the front of the Versa. The female driver was entrapped and had to extracted from the vehicle by Walker County Fire Rescue units. The driver of the F350 was uninjured in the crash though shaken up. LifeForce landed in the middle of Highway 27 and transported the driver of the Versa to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. The crash is being investigated the Georgia State Patrol and we will have further once it is released.
