Woman facing several charges after fleeing scene of crash in Trion Tuesday night
A woman is facing several charges after fleeing scene of crash in Trion Tuesday night. The hit-and-run crash happened on Highway 27 at Maffett Street in front of the gas station around 9:45 PM. The victim advised he was traveling northbound on Highway 27 in a Chevy Impala when vehicle shot across Highway 27 from West Oak Street colliding with the rear of the Impala. The impact sent his vehicle spinning out across Highway 27 into a parking lot across the street. The victim said the suspect vehicle stopped for a brief moment then took off at a high rate of speed down a side street. The victim told us he uses the Impala for traveling to college and work. Chattooga County deputies quickly responded to the area and located the suspect vehicle and driver at a house on Maffett Street. Deputies said the vehicle was totaled, and the female suspect stated she "thought it was only a minor crash." Andrea Lashay Carter, 32, was taken into custody charged by Georgia State Patrol with driving on suspended or revoked license, failure to yield when entering or crossing roadway, hit-and-run leaving the scene of accident, and suspended or canceled registration.
