Wanted felon arrested after vehicle and foot pursuit with Dalton PD

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, on May 5th, 2020, at approximately 8:58 PM, Officer Hammontree, was conducting routine patrol of the East sector. While at the intersection of Glenwood Avenue and MLK Jr. blvd, the officer detected the distinct odor of marijuana coming from a vehicle in front of him. The officer noticed the driver, later identified as Daniel Eric Pimentel, 26 of Dalton weaving within his lane and then turn quickly onto Hagan street. The officer activated his emergency equipment and attempted a traffic stop. Daniel refused to stop and continued through the stop sign without coming to a complete stop at Spencer Street. Daniel turned north onto Green Street towards Morris Innovative High School, where he bailed from the vehicle. Officer Herrera, when was in the area, spotted Daniel walking on MLK and yelled at him to stop walking. Daniel turned around, looked at the officer, and began running eastbound adjacent to MLK. Officer Herrera began chasing after the fleeing suspect on foot. They continued to run eastbound until they reached the restaurant TK Wings. They ran behind TK Wings, where they jumped the fence. Once over the fence, the officer yelled at Daniel again to stop running, or he would taze him. Daniel stopped running, turned around, and squared up with the officer. Officer Herrera stated, "I pulled my tazer out of my holster and pointed it at Daniel." The officer held Daniel at tazer point until Officer Porter arrived on scene to help arrest Daniel. After being arrested, Daniel requested EMS stating that he could not breathe. EMS was dispatch as Daniel continued to complain over difficulty breathing, and stated that he was thirsty. A random bystander on the other side of the fence threw a water bottle over that Daniel could drink. While waiting for EMS to arrive, Daniel stated that he was the driver of the vehicle that fled from Officer Hammontree. EMS cleared Daniel to be taken into police custody. Officer Pugh transported Daniel to the Whitfield County Jail, where he was served felony probation warrants. Marijuana wrapped in black plastic near the shifter was found inside the vehicle. At the jail, the officer cited Daniel with weaving over the roadway, failure to stop at a stop/yield sign, fleeing to elude, driving while unlicensed, and obstructing law enforcement officer. At the time of the report, Daniel remained in jail with no bond.
