Walker County Sheriff's Office investigating early Sunday morning shooting

LaFayette Man Charged in Sunday’s Walker County Shooting Incident Christopher Lee Smith, age 19 of LaFayette, Georgia, has been charged with a shooting Sunday morning at 201 Sequatchie Trail off Reed Road. The shooting incident left one person injured, according to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson. An argument over money involving four people led to the shooting that injured James Lee 39 of 201 Sequatchie Trail. Lee is recovering from a gunshot wound to the leg at Erlanger Medical Center. Smith was arrested on an unrelated misdemeanor probation violation Sunday morning. On Monday, Smith was charged with aggravated assault in connection to the shooting, Sheriff Wilson stated in the release.
As of Tuesday, Smith remains in the Walker County Detention Facility awaiting a bond hearing.According to the Walker County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to 201 Sequatchie Trail in LaFayette, Georgia Sunday morning at about 1:30 where a man was reported to have been shot in the leg. Upon arrival, deputies found James Lee, 39 of the residence had been shot in the leg with a small caliber handgun Reportedly, Lee and three other adults had been in an argument in the residence when the handgun discharged and a single round struck him in the leg. Lee was transported to a Erlanger Medical Center where he was treated for the wound. The shooting investigation is active and ongoing. No one has been charged at this time.
