Walker County Fire Rescue Fire battle residential structure fire over the weekend on Corinth Road
According to Walker County Fire Rescue: Over the weekend Walker County Fire Rescue responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 2000 block of Corinth Road. Hose 15 arrived on scene and reported heavy smoke and flames showing. Crews went to work to aggressively knock down the fire. Company 13 arrived and provided water supply and assisted with fire attack along with Company 20. GDC 8 handled RIT. Hose 1 and Hose 2 arrived and were assigned search group and performed VEIS. Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search is a rapid systematic search for possible victims. The crews were able to clear three rooms before fire conditions changed rapidly and forced them to evacuate from the second floor. Fortunately the occupants were not home at the time of the fire. Once again great work by all crews on scene! This was the second fire of the day for some crews. Walker Fire assisted Menlo earlier in the day on a residential fire. They also posted "Special thanks to Walker County 911 operators for their hard work when things get busy!" Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the family.
