Two people injured in serious Thursday night crash on Highway 27 in south Walker County

Two people injured in Thursday night crash on Highway 27 in Walker County. Walker County E911 dispatched units shortly before 9:30PM Thursday night to the intersection of South Highway 27 and Highway 337 (Shattuck Industrial Blvd) to a report of a pickup truck versus tractor trailer crash. Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson who happened to be heading home arrived on scene shortly after. The crash occurred just north of the intersection in the southbound right lane. According to preliminary reports a La Flotilla Trans tractor-trailer was traveling northbound on Highway 27 when it made a u-turn across all lanes. As the tractor trailer was straightening out a pickup truck slammed into the rear of the trailer. The female passenger was seriously injured and had to be extracted from the truck she was said to not be wearing a seatbelt. Both the driver and the passenger were transported by Puckett EMS to Erlanger in Chattanooga. The Georgia State Patrol post 41 in LaFayette is investigating the serious crash.
