Two men save Tennessee man from fiery crash on Highway 225 in Murray County Friday morning

According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, on Friday, May 15th, 2020, around 9:22 AM, a 2010 Ford Ranger being driven by Percy Eaves, 63 of Cleveland, TN, was traveling north on GA 225, nearing Sumach Church Road. While attempting to negotiate a left curve, the Ranger traveled off of the right side of the roadway. The Ranger struck the ditch on the east side of GA 225. The Ranger came to final rest on the east side of GA 225, facing north. After coming to final rest, the Ranger became fully engulfed in flames. The crash report had two people listed in the witness area of the report, James Hicks of Chatsworth and William Laney of Maryville, TN. The trooper stated they did not see the crash but risked their own safety pulling Eaves who was seriously injured to safety away from the fire. Determinations of this crash investigation by the trooper were made by driver statements and evidence at the scene. Eaves was transported by Murray County EMS to Hamilton Medical Center.
