Two injured after dump truck overturns Sunday on Owens Dairy Road in Chattooga County
According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, on Sunday, April 26th, 2020 around 11:56 AM, a 1993 Freightliner conventional dump truck being driven by Robert Matthew Hughes, 43 of Summerville was traveling west on Owens Dairy Road. The driver of dump truck failed to maintain his lane and traveled off the north shoulder of the roadway. The driver then over corrected his steering input to attempt to reenter the roadway but lost control of the vehicle. The dump truck then overturned onto its right side and slid to an uncontrolled final rest in the roadway. Hughes stated that there was a red pickup truck that traveled into in his lane which caused him to take an evasive maneuver and eventually crash his vehicle. The driver and the passenger Jason Rutledge, 43, Summerville both were transported to Redmond Medical Center by Redmond EMS.
