Two Calhoun men arrested after shoplifting from Home Depot

On Wednesday, two Calhoun men were arrested after allegedly shoplifting from the Calhoun Home Depot located at 1280 Curtis Parkway. Travis Nix, 27, of Harmony Drive, Calhoun, was arrested on charges of theft by shoplifting and reckless driving. Eric Stewart, 26, of Harmony Drive, Calhoun, was arrested on charges of theft by shoplifting and obstruction of a police officer. According to GSP reports a Georgia State Trooper was in the parking lot of the Home Depot when a person flagged him down saying a subject, later identified as Stewart, had just stolen a tool box from the store without paying for it. Stewart had run out of the store and jumped into a black Dodge truck that was waiting for him. The state trooper said the black Dodge truck, being driven by Nix, went north on Curtis Parkway. The trooper pulled the pair over near the Harbin Clinic located at 855 Curtis Parkway. While obtaining Nix’s information, Stewart jumped out of the passenger seat and took off running with the stolen tool box. The trooper quickly gave chase, taking Stewart into custody a short time later. Calhoun PD responded to assist the trooper. Both Stewart and Nix were taken into custody and booked into the Gordon County Jail
