Tunnel Hill Elementary temporarily locked down Thursday while police chased felony suspect on foot

Tunnel Hill Elementary temporarily locked down Thursday morning while police chased felony suspect on foot. The Tunnel Hill Police Department posted to their Facebook they had increased its Patrols in the Montgomery Trailer park after complaints on Daniel Shane Widener being in the area. Widener had Felony Warrants out of Whitfield and Hamilton Counties. During a patrol Widener was spotted. Widener fled on foot, entered a home to attempt to hide and then fled into a swampy area. Widener was located a few minutes later in a drainage culvert on Highway 41 and taken into custody. Tunnel Hill Elementary was temporary locked down as a precautionary measure. Tunnel Hill PD posted saying "Thanks to the Whitfield County Sheriffs Department for fast backup and helping take Widener into custody." Widener is facing multiple charges including probation violation, felony, probation violation, felony, fugitive from justice, willful obstruction of law officers, and possession and use of drug related objects
