Trion man arrested charged with DUI after hitting pedestrian and leaving the scene Tuesday evening
A Trion man is in the Chattooga County Jail facing multiple charges after hitting a female pedestrian Tuesday evening in Teloga and leaving the scene. The crash happened around 7:20 P.M. Tuesday evening on McConnell Road. The female pedestrian suffered serious injures in the crash and was airlifted by LifeForce to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. The female was able to give a description of truck that left the scene to officials. Authorities located the truck along with the driver later Tuesday night. James M. Gilleland 50 of Trion was taken into custody by The Georgia State Patrol charged with DUI, failure to report an accident and serious injury by vehicle. The Georgia State Patrol Post 38 in Rome is investigating the crash and we will have further once it is released.
