Three-vehicle head-on crash kills two Friday in Walker County

Authorities have a identified two killed in Friday’s fatal crash. Driver of Chevrolet HHR – Theresa L. King, age 51 of Greer, SC. Passenger of Chevrolet HHR - James E. McGill, age 42 of Rossville.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, "On August 14, at approximately 4:57 p.m., the GSP Communications Center received a call from the Walker County 911 Center about a three car collision on GA 2 near Dewberry Road. Upon arrival, Troopers confirmed two fatalities at the scene. The preliminary Investigation indicates a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup driven by Austin L. Cooper, age 23 of Rossville, was traveling eastbound on GA 2. Mr. Cooper’s Chevrolet S-10 crossed the median and struck a 2009 Chevrolet HHR, traveling westbound on GA 2, head on. The Chevrolet HHR was driven by a female, and a male front seat passenger. The Chevrolet HHR rotated counter clock-wise and came to an uncontrolled rest in the right westbound travel lane of GA 2. After the initial impact, the Chevrolet S-10 continued east, in the right westbound travel lane, colliding with a 2017 Nissan Altima. The driver of the Nissan Altima was identified as 35 year old Erika D. Edwards of Flintstone. Ms. Edwards was transported by private vehicle to an area hospital. The driver of the Chevrolet S-10 was transported to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee for serious injuries. The driver and passenger of the Chevrolet HHR were both pronounced dead at the scene by Walker County Coroner Dewayne Wilson. The Troop A Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) responded to the scene and will conduct a follow up investigation. The identities of the victims will be released as soon as family notification can be made. Charges are pending in this crash investigation."
