Tennessee man faces slew of charges including trafficking meth after high-speed chase in Catoosa Co.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, on Monday, May 11th, 2020 at approximately 12:24 a.m., a 2020 Kia Optima being driven by Brandon Kyle Lawson, 22 of Morristown, TN, was observed by a TFC J. Day traveling at a high rate of speed on I-75 North in Whitfield County. The vehicle was checked at 145 mph in a 70 mph speed zone. Lawson failed to yield and initiated a pursuit with the Trooper. The pursuit continued Northbound I-75 into Catoosa County. Lawson took exit 348 and turned northbound onto GA-3 from GA-151. The pursuit went down GA-2 and continued for while before ending on Pine Grove Road, after Lawson’s tire began to go flat. Lawson was taken into custody by TFC Day and Catoosa County deputies. Lawson was booked into the Catoosa County Jail on charged with speeding in a construction site (133MPH), holding/supporting telecommunications device, driving on wrong side of roadway, failure to obey traffic control device, failure to stop at a stop sign, driving on suspended license, fleeing or attempting to elude felony, obstruction, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, passing on shoulder of roadway, passing in no passing zone, failure to signal when turning/changing lanes, speeding, trafficking methamphetamine felony, and driving within a gore/median
