Teenager cited after Monday crash involving CSX train on Lake Katherine Road in Whitfield County
According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report on Monday, June 23rd, around 12:25 A.M. a 2001 Ford Econoline being driven by a 19-year-old of a Rocky Face address was traveling westbound on Lake Katherine Road crossing over a rail road crossing. A CSX 2001 GE diesel train was traveling south on railroad track approaching the railroad crossing at Lake Katherine Road. The Ford Econoline right side tires left the roadway and became stuck facing west with in the crossing. The CSX train could not stop in time and struck the right side of the Ford Econoline with its front. After impact Ford Econoline and the train came to a control rest just south of the crossing. The area of impact was with in the rail road crossing. The 19-year-old was not injured in the crash and was cited by GSP for failure to maintain single lane.
