Teenager arrested for DUI and several felonies after fleeing checkpoint in Calhoun over the weekend
A Memorial Day weekend DUI driver attempted to flee from Calhoun Police on Friday. According to Police reports, Jovany Brito, 17 attempted to avoid a DUI Checkpoint Friday night on Barrett Road in Gordon County. Brito drove his silver Ford Mustang down Le Club Road to avoid officers. The road dead-ended and he was forced to flee on foot. Officers located Brito hiding in the woods behind the Le club apartments, officers struggled with Brito to take him into custody. Police located a stolen 9MM Taurus handgun in his vehicle. Brito was booked into the Gordon County Jail charged with DUI, felony fleeing, felony obstruction, possession of a handgun under 21 years old, reckless conduct, no drivers license, reckless driving, possession of stolen property, possession of a gun during a crime, and multiple traffic violations.
