Teen cited by GSP after head-on crash leaves several injured Sunday night in Walker County
According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, on Sunday, May 31st, 2020, at around 9:50 PM, a 2002 Ford Ranger being drive by a 17-year-old from Chickamauga was traveling north on Shinbone Ridge Road negotiating a curve too fast for the conditions and the driver lost control. A 2018 Hyundai Sonata being driven by Taylor Hill, 25 of Chickamauga was traveling south on Shinbone Ridge Road, beginning to negotiate the same curve. The Ford entered the Hyundai's lane of travel. The Ford struck the Hyundai in the front with it's front. After impact, the passenger in the Hyundai Cody Gravitt, 27 of Chickamauga, assisted the driver out of the vehicle, and both occupants exited through the driver's side door. After exiting the vehicle, it began rolling backward down the incline, and the driver's side front tire traveled over Gravitt's lower half of his body. The Ford continued traveling north, backward, exiting the west side of the roadway, striking a tree with it's rear and coming to an uncontrolled final rest. A 14-year-old in the Ford was injured as well as both the driver and passenger in the Hyundai. The teen driver of the Ford was cited by GSP.
