Teen arrested after leading GSP Trooper on high-speed chase on motorcycle last week
A teenager was arrested after leading Georgia State Trooper on a high-speed chase on a motorcycle last week. According to an incident report, on Wednesday August 14th around 10:40 P.M. Georgia State Trooper Dexter Mitchell spotted a speeding 2002 Yamaha FZS1 northbound on Highway 27. The Yamaha stopped for a brief moment but then took off at a high rate of speed leading the trooper on a high-speed chase through Trion continuing northbound on Highway 27. The pursuit went into Walker County where it ended after turning onto Highway 151. Georgia State Trooper arrested Oran Demetrius Smith, 18 of a Summerville address. Smith was booked into the Chattooga County Jail on several charges including alteration of license plate, driving without valid/ expired license expired tag, failure to maintain single lane, failure to signal when turning/ changing lanes, fleeing/ attempting to elude officer, improper use of central turning lane, no insurance/ no proof of insurance, reckless driving, speeding, and suspend/ canceled registration.
