Teen arrested after high-speed chase with GSP in stolen vehicle on I-75 Saturday morning
According to an incident report, a 17-year-old was arrested following a dangerous 100MPH pursuit Over the weekend. The pursuit began shortly after 1:00 A.M. Saturday after the Catoosa County E911 dispatched a BOLO (be on the lookout) over the radio for a stolen silver Infinity. A Ringgold police officer was behind the vehicle on the interstate southbound and requesting assistance from Georgia State Patrol. A trooper who was patrolling the area responded to the area and attempted to stop the suspect near mile marker 343 on I-75 after confirming the vehicle was stolen. The suspect refused to stop, taking off from the trooper. The pursuit continued southbound into Whitfield County passing the Rocky Face exit (336). Another trooper, Trooper Whitfield responded to the area of exit 333 southbound to assist in the pursuit of the wanted felon. As the pursuit passed exit 333 (Want Avenue) The pursuing trooper crashed the front left of her patrol car into a guardrail. She was injured in the crash by declined to be transported by EMS. Trooper Whitfield picked up the pursuit and took over. The suspect continued to drive the stolen vehicle reckless reaching speeds over 100MPH. Due to recklessness of the pursuit and danger to the public, Trooper Whitfield ended the pursuit five miles later after taking over performing a P.I.T. maneuver (Pursuit Intervention Technique). The stolen vehicle crashed overturning several times. The driver was quickly taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Whitfield County Jail.
