Suspect in deadly hit and run in Walker County sentenced to nine years
Mitchell Taylor Horton, who was arrested earlier this year after running over a Walker County man in his yard, pleaded guilty in Walker County Superior Court on Thursday to first degree vehicular homicide, reckless driving, failure to maintain a single lane and driving too fast for conditions. According to the Georgia State Patrol, Horton lost control of a friend's Hyundai Sonata on the morning of January 30th, veering into a yard on Marble Top Road in Chickamauga running over and killing Horace Cribbs who was doing yard work. Horton fled the scene and hid the car at a home. The Chattanooga Police Department arrested Horton the next day after receiving a tip about his whereabouts. Horton was sentenced to nine years in prison and nine years on probation.
