Stolen vehicles, trailer and tractor recovered by Chattooga Co. Sheriff's Office, several arrested

A stolen 2005 Chevrolet pickup taken last week on Mahan Road in Summerville was recovered by investigators with the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office Friday morning. The owner of the Chevy told investigators he was home all day on August 7th and did not realize that his truck had been stolen until his wife asked where his truck was. Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader said Friday that the Georgia Department of Natural Resources aviation happened to be flying over the county in preparation for the Optimist Club Kayak event that took place Saturday. Sheriff Schrader asked the DNR to BOLO (be on the lookout) for the 2005 Chevrolet pickup, and also a tractor which was recovered Monday. The sheriff said they have information that the stolen Chevrolet pickup was in the Pennville area. Special Operations Sargent Josh Powell flew in the DNR helicopter on Friday when they found the stolen Chevrolet pickup off Memorial Drive. The Chevrolet pickup is now back in the possession of the owner. The suspect Christopher Fowler was quickly taken into custody without incident and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail on charge theft of a motor vehicle. Sheriff Schrader posted on his Facebook expressing his appreciation to the Department of Natural Resources for their assistance in locating the stolen Chevrolet pickup. Also last week according to an incident report Sheriff Deputy Tony Edwards was patrolling around 1:29 A.M. on August 15th Hwy. 114 when he noticed a silver Dodge pickup sitting on the lot of P&P Country Store, address 9636 Hwy. 114, in Lyerly. Deputy Edwards stated he ran the license plate displayed on the vehicle through E-911 and it came back as a stolen vehicle out of Bradley County, Tennessee. He then had E-911 to confirm the hit with Bradley County. At this time, he had the vehicle towed to Gary’s towing impound lot with a hold for Bradley County,”. The sheriff posted on Facebook also saying "Thanks to some very good work by my investigators and Investigative assistant we have recovered the trailer and arrested an individual for theft by taking. Chief Inv. Burrage, Inv. Spraggins and I traveled to Augusta GA and took custody of the individual and then made a stop in the Atlanta area and brought both the suspect and trailer back to Chattooga County. Thanks very much for all of the shares and for everyone who "kept their eyes out" for us." The trailer was taken in broad daylight on Fish Hatchery Road last Monday. An arrest is expected soon in the stolen tractor recovered Monday night as well.
