Soddy Daisy woman leaves child behind after shoplifting at Fort Oglethorpe Dollar General

Elizabeth Anne Posey, 29, of, Soddy Daisy was arrested last Wednesday on charges of driving under the influence of drugs, endangering the life of a child while DUI, reckless conduct, simple battery, striking an unattended vehicle and theft by shoplifting. According to an arrest report by Fort Oglethorpe Police Posey attempted to push out a shopping cart full of merchandise from the Dollar General Market on Battlefield Parkway worth $197, without paying for it. The reports says when a female employee tried to stop her Posey punched the employee several times in the face with her fist. Posey left the store with her 8-year-old child and fled the scene. In the process Posey struck two vehicles in the front of the parking lot. At which point the 8-year-old fearing for her life jump out the vehicle and ran back into the store for safety. Posey was stopped and arrested shortly after attempting to leave the parking lot by a Fort Oglethorpe Police Officer. In the report the officer advised Posey's speech was very slurred and said she didn't leave her child behind, the store took her and would not give her back. Posey is currently still in the Catoosa County Jail on a $13k bond.
