Rome woman seriously injured and airlifted following crash in Armuchee last week
According to Georgia State Patrol crash reports, Sunday, May 26th around 9:21 P.M. a 2013 Honda Accord being driven by Latarca Blackburn, 30 of Rome was in the center turn lane of Highway 27 (GA-1) facing north to turn left onto Hennon Drive. A 1999 Ford F350 being driven by James Weaver, 54 of Rome was traveling south on Highway 27 (GA-1) in the right lane. Accord turned left in front of the F350 slamming into it. After impact, the F350 spun counterclockwise striking the Accord a second time in the left side with its rear. The Accord then continued to spin counterclockwise coming to an uncontrolled final rest in the inside southbound lane of Highway 27 (GA-1) facing south. The F350 ran off of the right shoulder striking a mailbox with its front then flipping over onto its roof coming to an uncontrolled final rest. The area of impact was in the outside southbound lane of Highway 27 (GA-1) and was determined by gouge marks in the roadway. The driver of the F350 along with a small juvenile (5) in the Accord were both transported by Redmond EMS to Floyd Medical Center in Rome. The driver for the Accord was seriously injured in the crash and was airlifted by AirLife to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.
