Rome Police looking for shooting suspect involved in shooting at Shorter Avenue convenience store

The suspect Patrick Cortez Turner was arrested Thursday. At approximately 12:45 p.m., Rome Police responded to a shooting that was reported outside the Exxon Service Station at 1941 Shorter Ave. A black male, Charmian Perkins, 25, was shot after a brief altercation with another black male, Patrick Cortez Turner. The shooting occurred inside the business.
Perkins was shot as he walked out of the business. He suffered a non-life threating injury to his leg. Perkins was in surgery at Floyd Medical at the time of this release. The Rome Police Department has no further information about his condition at this time. Warrants have been obtained for Patrick Cortez Turner, a 34-year-old black male of a Rome address for the following felonies: Aggravated assault, Aggravated battery, Felon in possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon while committing a crime. During the shooting. Turner was armed with what appeared to be a silver or chrome revolver. He was last seen leaving the location traveling westbound on Shorter Avenue in a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria silver in color with Georgia license plate # RTM0233 There were two other people in the vehicle with Turner.
